Field Fresh has developed red onion varieties specifically suited to the Tasmanian growing environment. Extensive testing has been undertaken by the company's Research and Development Division since 1993, with careful assessment of key product characteristics to ensure that premium quality is maintained.
Hybrid red onions are grown in the warmer Northern Midlands region of Tasmania while new early maturing varieties are being developed for the rich volcanic soils of Tasmania's North west. Red Onions are transported to Field Fresh Tasmania's packing house for curing, grading, sizing and export packing.
Tasmania's low incidence of plant pests and diseases means that chemical usage is minimised.
Field Fresh Tasmania uses sustainable crop management techniques which minimise environmental impact. These systems are tailored to the requirements of individual clients.
